Babies and Baptisms!

Alexander was baptized this weekend and it went really well! He was very good during the hour and a half of church, and I think he liked being in front of the whole Church!

9 Months old!

Alex's nine month stats:
21.4 pounds
27 inches tall
size 3-4 diaper
size 9-12 month clothes
Teeth: two on the bottom
Loves:
Cruising, going for walk, standing in the bath, playing with the dish washer, opening and closing doors and cupboards, figuring out how things work, playing with the dogs, "getting in trouble" which goes with being chased when he shouldn't be doing something like getting into the plant, or playing with the dog door.
Doesn't like:
Sitting in his high chair after he is done eating, having his nose wiped, having his diaper changed, sitting for a whole 6 ounce bottle, being buckled into his car seat, being told he can not play with the plant, or dog door, basically anything that he has to stay in one spot for.

Some how Alex still surprises me everyday! I would like to say I am no longer surprised at what this little boy can do, but then he does something else, and I am in shock!

For example:
I was across the room from him looking down sending an email on my phone, and when I looked up Alex had gotten into a plant, and thrown dirt all over the floor, and had it all over his face, and in his mouth!

Another day, in the time it took me to walk from the kitchen to the living room, he had stood up on a plastic box and was checking to see what was over his head in the bookcase.

He even "runs" from us already! If the gate is not up and the dogs bowls are on the floor he heads straight for them, and if we get up to move the bowls, he crawls super fast and laughs as he tries to get them before us. We can't help but laugh along.

He still likes to get into everything in the TV stand and when he sees us coming he tries to pull everything out as fast as he can.

He is very smart too! Just last night I was sitting on the floor with him and we were playing with a giraffe that you drop balls into. Before I even put the first one in he picked a ball up and dropped it right in the hole. I was in shock and clapped my hands and cheered for him. As I cheered he put another one in, and kept doing it over and over. Later I got the ring stacker out to test him and he tried putting the rings right on. He really is so smart!

Another night I was sitting on the couch watching Joe and Alex play on the floor. Alex had his shape sorting school bus, that I got him and always play with him. He looked over at me, rolled the bus to the couch as he crawled next two it, then he got on his knees and with 3 tries he put the bus up on the couch next to me. It was so cute to watch him work it out. It's a pretty big toy. I was so proud of him, that I even got teary eyed watching him.

Alex had his first BIG accident this month. It turned out to be harder on me than on him! Most days when we are outside playing at work I keep Alex in a stroller, or the wagon. I let him just sit and watch the other kids play. Well on the 9th I was starting to feel bad about it. As I have mentioned, Alex hates to be stuck in one place, so I put his sandals on him and took him out to play with the kids. We were not out there 10 minutes and he ended up wiping out in the driveway. I picked him up as fast as I could and yelled to the other kids to follow me in. Above and below is left eye was pretty red and a little puffy. Once I got him to stop crying, I put ice on it, but he did not like that. As the minutes went on it seemed to get worse. I tried to call my doctor for advice, but they were closed. I did call my boss, and she said it sounded fine because of the place on his head. When my other boss got home he said it was not looking that bad, but I could not stop crying. I felt like the worse mom in the world. When we got home that night, my husband agreed that it was not that bad, but every time I looked at Alex I got tears in my eyes. The next morning I was very happy to see that the swelling was gone, and only 3 little scratches were left. Looking back on it I still feel really bad. Now Alex is back in the stroller watching the other kids play. He will have to wait until next summer to join in!

Alex's favorite thing to say is still "dadada". He has also says "bababa" a lot, and Joe is sure it means "Baxter" which is Alex's favorite out of our two dogs. He added "La" last week, and still only says "mom" when he is whining, or crying, but I don't mind because when he does say it, it is because he really means it, and wants his mom!

He seemed to forget how to wave after we taught him how to give high fives! He also gives kisses now, so that is nice. You've got to love the open mouth baby kiss!

We never thought it would happen, but he also has moved on from his army crawl. He crawls on his hands and knees 90% of the time now. He still seems to like the army crawl, and I think it's because he is faster that way.

I've been waiting for him to figure out how to get from his tummy to sitting. It seems everywhere I read they say he should have figured it out. Joe says he has seen him, but I am not so sure. I know he can go from standing to sitting, but never from his tummy......until last night! He went from his tummy, to his hands and knees, then he used a toy to sit on his knees (which is how he sits a lot), then he leaned back and kicked both legs out from under him so that he was sitting on his butt! It was very cute to see. He tried it a few times after, but it never worked out for him.
