Wow, it's been awhile, and a lot has changed! I will get to the changes, but right now it's Easter and I am excited about that!
We have been sharing the excitement of the Easter bunny with Alex all week! Wednesday we took him out to dinner at a restaurant that was having a kids night, and he loved seeing the bunny their! He was waving at him (or her) giving hugs, high fives, and blowing kisses! It was so cute. On TThursday he got to take part in an Easter egg hunt at school. I did not get to see it, but the teachers took some really cute pictures for me.
Friday night we took him out to look for a bike for him as a little Easter gift/he just needs one. We did not have any luck. We found one that fit him great, but he could not pedal it, and I don't think he will be able to any time soon. We checked another store for a little 4 wheeler that is like a power wheels car, but they were all out because they were on sale. We did find out that their store on the other side of town did have them, so we put one on hold there.
Today we went to the mall for some Easter fun. Alex got to play some simple games to win little prizes. His favorite was a little ring with a smile face on it. He also got to see a fire truck and get in an ambulance. He seemed Star Struck at those two, since they are his favorite! He saw the Easter bunny, but the line to sit with him was way to long for Alex to wait so we didn't. He got to go in a bounce house for the first time and he LOVED it! He liked it so much that he would not get out when his turn was over, and the people working it had to go in and get him! Before heading home we ran into the toy store and grabbed the 4 wheeler that we had on hold. After a fast lunch we went home for Alex's nap. He must have been beat from all the morning excitement because he slept for over 3 hours and Joe ended up waking him.
When he got up we showed him his new 4 wheeler and he jumped right on it. We spent the next few hours outside playing and working on the yard. Then we headed out to one of our other malls in town to get that picture of Alex with the Easter bunny. Again he loved it! Now he is sleeping and I am going to hide his eggs around the house because it's going to rain tomorrow.
I love watching Alex enjoy the excitement of Easter, but this Easter comes with a lot of heartache! Not only is this our first holiday without the foster kids (Alex's brother and sister), but it is also the first holiday since a lot of drama in my family happened, and I am left with no family Easter to go to. We could have driven over to Joe's mom's for dinner, but we were just there two weeks ago and gas prices are nuts! So it's sad, but it is what it is!
Sounds like a nice Easter overall. Glad you're back. Would love to hear what's been happening.
