First off, I am so bad at blogging with a baby! I draft post when I am at work, and all the kids are sleeping. Then I think I will attach pictures when I get home and publish the post. That last part never happens! I bet I have 10 post in the draft stage just sitting and waiting for it's pictures! lol Oh, well! I'm not even sure if anyone is reading this. At least I am getting my thoughts down for Alex and I.
Today Alex is NOT 9 weeks old! It wasn't until I was proof reading this post that I noticed that he is 10 weeks old! Where did the last week go? lol
Alexander is a total ham! Not only is he a ham because he is a chunk, but he is also a ham because he gives the biggest smile when he is smiled at! It is to die for! I love it!
Here's what 10 weeks looks like for Alex:
Eating: Alex is a wonderful eater. He loves his formula and never spits up. He is a little stingy with his burps, and I think it is because Daddy waits until the end of the bottle to burp him. I try to burp every two ounces. He is moving from 4 ounces every 3 hours, to 5 ounces. He still gets his 6 ounce bottle at night.
Sleeping: Tonight will mark the 24th night that Alex has slept through the night! I feel bad writing it, like it will jinx myself! He goes to bed every night between 9:45 and 10:15, then he gets up between 7 and 8. He sleeps closer to 8am on the weekends, when I don't have to wake him for work. He is still in the bassinet in our room. I love having him close, but I know we need to move him to the crib soon. Not only is it better for him to be in his own room, but he is getting too big for the bassinet! He naps a lot through out the day, and I am working on a better nap schedule, but not this week.
Because: poor baby Alex has his first cold! :( He is doing pretty good with it, but it is breaking my heart! The first day he had a ton of snot, and a bad cough. Now it's just a rattle in his chest, but it still kills me! I called the doctor, and there is nothing we can do. :(
I am guessing Alex is about 13 pounds. He was pretty close last week, and I bet he has hit it now. He can still wear some newborn clothes depending on the brand, but he mostly wears 0-3 month. Last night I took a bunch of his 3 months clothes out of his closet, took the tags off, and washed them. He is wearing one today and it is snug! He won't be wearing this outfit for long! I wish I would have known! I hate that different brands fit different, even though they all say the same size!
Alex keeps making new noises and it cracks me up. Over the weekend he would cough and then say (what sounded like) Oooouuuhhh As if it hurt to cough! He loves to be talked to, and will make lots of sounds back at you.
Alex and his daddy love to blow raspberries at each other. Alex can't make the sound yet, but he tries! He sticks his tongue out and moves it all around. Then he cracks up when daddy makes the sound.
He smiles more and more every day. He smiles most in the morning, but is starting to smile more at other times during the day. He went from only smiling at me, to only woman, and now he will smile at anyone who smiles at him. Yesterday my dad was holding him and he was giving his grandpa all kinds of smiles, and giggles.
He still loves bath time, but does not like getting out of the bath. I try to read to him everyday, but he always falls asleep. He gets lots of floor time on his tummy and on his back. He is such a joy and we are loving every minute with him!

2 Month Check-up.
Alex had his two month check-up today. It started out not so great. That had nothing to do with Alex, though! We got there about 10 minutes early. I am always early, unless I am counting on Joe, then we are always late! Our appointment was for 2:50, I was really about 20 minutes early, so I sat in the car and talked on the phone for a few minutes before we went in. When we got inside there were 4 other families waiting, 3 of them had coughing kids with them. I thought they would send us right back, which they did last time. This time they didn't. They made us sit in the germy waiting room with all the sick kids! Not only did they make us sit there, but they kept us there for 25 minutes. I saw 3 other families come in and get to go back while I was still sitting there! I hate that!
When we did get called back I was told to take him "down to diaper". Then the nurse said "red hair, does his dad have red hair?" I said "nope" and left it at that!
When the doctor came in I had lots of "silly" questions for her, and she thought they were pretty funny. She said it is wonderful that I am not afraid to ask them! I asked her if she thinks Alexander's tongue is too big! Lol Sometimes I think he might choke on it, because it is so big. She laughed and said it looked fine.
I asked if I should be worried because the right side of his face is a tad larger than his left. She laughed and said that no ones eyes are the same size, and that his checks will balance out. She looked for a flat spot in the back of the right side, but his head was perfectly round. She said some babies like to sleep on 1 side, and those babies will get a flat spot and all their features on that side will move forward.
I asked her about the red spots in the back of his neck, and she said that is his stork bite. Those where the worst ones. Other than that I asked her about his feedings, if she thought he looked way too big, about him sleeping through the night, and about his circumcision. I was happy to have questions this time! At the last appointment I could not think of anything to ask.

His stats look like this :
Weight:
At birth: 8 pounds 2.5 ounces
Two months: 12 pounds 14 ounces
Length:
At birth:21 inches
Two months: 23 3/4 inches
Head:
At birth: 14 inches
Two months: 16 inches
On the charts he comes out at 75% for all three!
He also got a ton of shorts at this visit. I was freaking out, and thought for sure that I would cry. Turns out we are both braver than I though! Alex took to oral medication really well, and even sucked the last of it out of the tube. He was given a shot in each leg, and he yelled out. Then he got a 3rd on one of his legs and he did start to cry a little, but he stopped as soon as I picked him up. The doctor said he was one of her better babies. She said he was very calm, and he must get that from how calm I was. It went well I guess, but I am NOT looking forward to more shots in the future!

Am I dreaming?
7 Weeks Old!
Alexander is 7 weeks old, and growing like a weed! I don't really have a good way to weight him, but to get on the scale with him, then get on alone and to do the math. If that way is accurate, my 7 week old weighs 13 pounds today! I feel like this can not be right! He doesn't look that big. I think most 3 months olds are 13 pounds and Alex does not look like a 3 months old! Also, he is still wearing clothes that say 5-8 pounds. I guess we will just have to wait and see what the pediatrician says on the 15th when he goes in for his 2 month appointment.
I think I might be dreaming because my 7 week old baby sleeps through the night! Knock on wood, he has done it for the last 3 nights! Sunday night I put him down at 10:30, and he slept until I woke him at 6:30 the next morning. Monday night I put him down at 11pm, and he slept until 8am (we had the day off). Last night I put him down at 10:30 and again, he slept until I woke him at 6:30 for work! I follow most of the "rules" of the baby wise book that I read, but I never thought it would work! I am pretty strict about him eating 4 ounces every 3 hours during the day. He can eat as early as 2.5 hours, but no later than 3. After he eats he plays for awhile, unless he is really tired. When he is done playing, or gets grumpy he takes another nap. If he is sleeping when the next 3 hours mark comes, I wake him. The last feeding of the day, the 10-11 feeding, is a 6 ounce bottle. He does just fine with this much. He doesn't spit it up, and it seems to keep him full for the night.
Although we never had to get up a lot in the night, it is nice to not have to git up at all! Now we both can go to bed at night, and sleep until our alarms go off. I would not be surprised if this does not last, but while it does, it's nice!Alex has been making new noises too! I love when I hear him "say" something new. I always say "what did you say?". I was taking pictures of him smiling yesterday and he said "cooo". Then when I was talking to him, and saying "hi baby, hi Alex" He said, what sounded like "hi" and I could not stop cracking up!
He smiles almost every time I come into his view now! I can not get enough of his smiles, and I light up every time I see one! (blurry, but it's a smile)
Here is one of those stories: I took Alex to have lunch with his Daddy yesterday. When we were done, Alex and I went shopping. As we were checking out the cashier looked into the car seat and said "oh, he is so cute. How old is he?" I said "He is 7 weeks today" Another worker peeked in and said "oh, he's filling out". I said "yep, he's a chunk". The woman ringing me up then said "That's nothing, my 3 month old is bigger than his 10 month old cousin". I just smiled. Then the other worker looked me up and down and said "well, you look good". I just smiled. When we got out to the car I laughed out loud! Funny the things you say when you don't know! :)
