Party of five, 3 with the flu!

Today marks one week since we have had the kids, and it's amazing we are still able to function!  Here is a little of how are week went:
Tuesday: the kids come home and we run around crazy trying to get the house ready for them.

Wednesday: A much needed trip to the store, hair cuts, a meeting, and a trip to the park.  That night Alex doesn't want to eat.  11:30 drag our tired bodies to bed.  11:35 hear Alex throwing up in his crib.  12am bath and 104.2 temp.  1am everyone is back in bed.

Thursday: Joe is home with poor Alex.  I take "big boy", and "princess" to work with me.  On the way home we check out a daycare.  Get home and find that all of the kids stuff had been dropped off, which is bins and bins of out grown clothes.

Friday: I take all 3 kids to work with me, and I am exhusted!  5pm big boy, and princess get to go to an outing so I try to take a nap but I am so stressed out that I can't.

Saturday: My awsome husband says I can sleep in, and he will take care of the morning!  Sweet! Nope!  I am still so stressed I can't sleep, by 8am I get up, and let him go back to bed.  10:30am big boy pukes in our bed while resting and watching TV.  11:30am he says he is fine.  12pm big boy pukes into his lunch plate.  That night everyone seems fine.

Sunday: We have Easter morning which does not go that well (story in another post).  "Big boy" seems fine now so we pack up everyone and head an hour and a half north for my family Easter.  The day goes good, and we are home by 6.  We have dinner and play in the back yard.  Get everyone in bed, and get ready for the week.

Monday: 4am princess is throwing up in bed, and does not stop throwing up until 9am this morning (Tuesday).  I drop "big boy" off at his new daycare (school) and he cries.  Poor buddy!  11am Joe calls me, and tells me I have his keys in my purse so he has to take a $25 cab ride over to get them!  12pm "Big boy's" school calls to ask me to come pick him up because he has diahrea!

Today things are starting to look up!  Big boy is feeling better and as soon as his stool returns to normal I can bring him back to school.  He really wanted to go today, but I had to tell him no.
Alex is teething and has really bad allergies, on top of having the flu, and adjusting to the big change.  He cries a lot, and wants to be held a lot, but that is just fine.
Princess has been able to eat a little today, and I hope she is back to normal soon.  I think both kids with just hold off this week, and return to school next Monday.

Aside from all three kids having the flu, and how tired we are, things are going well.  Alex's siblings are little sweeties and we have hardly had any problems with them.  Big boy has not even had a time out.  Princess does test Joe a lot more than me and has had a few time outs from him.  I look farward to everyone being healthy again so we can have more fun time together!

Family of Five!

Out of no where we got a call Tuesday at 12:30pm asking if we could come pick up the two kids!  Big shock to say the least!  I made lots of phone calls, and had the kids in our home by 4pm that afternoon.  It's been a non-stop ride!  Up and down, and around again!
The kids are as sweet at can be!  They look, and act just like Alex!  When Alex and (his sister, who is 2.5) laugh, it's hard to tell which it's coming from.  His brother (who is almost 4) is the little man of the house.  He has the same crazy hair as Alex, only it's not red!
The 3 of them are so close in age that people can't help but comment about it.  At the hair cutters the woman wanted to know how Alex and his sister could be so close in age.  She thought they looked about the same age.  His sister has a baby face, so she does look younger than 2 and half.  Not to mention all three of the kids are really short.  We got lots of smiles as Joe pushed a cart with the boys, and I pushed another cart with princess in it, while we shopped yesterday.  We needed a lot of stuff when they first came home, so it helped to have two carts, plus we were not ready to let any of them free in the store!
It's been hard, I'm not going to lie.  I have been super stressed out about money, and daycare.  Also, our house is not that big, and we had to move a lot of stuff around to fit them in.  There are messes everywhere.  On top of that Alex had a fever yesterday and ended up puking in his bed last night.  He is home sick with Joe today, and I hope they are both getting lots of rest.  I am at the home where I nanny, and have been lucky to have the siblings with me at work today.
While everyone is napping, I am working on setting up daycare for the kids, and I think I might have something going.  Things are starting to look up, and I look forward to have 3 little ones for Easter this weekend!

Things are up and up

Things seem to be worked out. After many phone calls, emails, and fax, it looks like "the situation" has been worked out.  We won't know for sure until the end of the month (because things take time). I will just keep praying that this has been handled and there will be no more surprises! FYI: "the situation" involves taxes.

On to our other issue right now, foster care.  I got a call back from the social worker already. She said there will be a meeting about the kids and that we will be invited to the meeting. She said we will learn a lot more about the case at that time. She said we will hear a lot of the stuff that she can not tell me over the phone. This will be the kind of stuff that I can't share here.  She said they hope the meeting will take place next week, and that we will be getting a call with the date and time. I look forward to going to this meeting and learning more about the case, but I am really nervous at the same time.

I'm still not feeling very well, and have not had anything to eat today.   I don't think Alex is feeling very well either.  He is a little grumpy when he is awake. He slept in today, and took a very long morning nap.  He is now taking a long afternoon nap, and that is not like him to sleep in and take two long naps.  Good thing his 15 months appointment is today.  Maybe they can tell me what might be going on.

That takes the cake!

I'm not going to go into all of the details, but if there could be a number 1, first place , worst day in history....it would be yesterday!

The day started ok.  Alex had a runny nose, and his left eye would not stop tearing.  I think it's allergies.  Aside from that he was being pretty good, and so were the girls.  I was not feeling great, but was pushing through it.

Around 4pm the day changed.  Alex was being really grumpy and all 3 girls were pulling at me for different things.  In the middle of it the phone rings, and it's the call we had been waiting for.  It was Alex's sibling's social worker.  She was calling to let us know what she had decided.   First off, I have not had very good luck in talking to this lady!  She always acts like she has no idea why I am calling her or what I want.  I know she is not able to legally tell me much, but she never tells me anything!  She ends up saying that she has no news, and that the kids will be staying in the foster home that they are in now.  It's weird because I already had a feeling that she was going to say that, and I thought I had come to terms with that, but I guess I had not because I got really upset when she said it.  I went on to ask her why they ever called us and asked us to get licensed.  Why they pushed us to move forward, and why other workers there told us there was no reason the kids wouldn't be moved.  This worker is kind of new, and asked that I call her boss, so I did.  This lady also seemed to not know who I was even though I had been some what involved in the case for 4 months now.  Also these two lady's claim to have had two meetings about the kids coming to stay with us, so how can neither of them not be sure who I am!  Annoying!  This lady also had no answers for me, and said she would talk to the person above her.  She said she would call in a day for two with more information. If it's really not in the best interest of the kids to be moved here, then fine, I agree 100%.  I just don't see how it was the best thing for them two months ago, so we rushed to get licensed, and now no one will give me any kind of reason why this has changed!  It's very upsetting.
After getting home that night I got some horrible news in the mail. I ended up on the phone for the next four hours trying to work out this other issue, and am home today not feeling well, still trying to get it worked out.  It's no small thing either!  I've been on the phone with so many people I can't remember who told me what.  In between calls it's runs to the bathroom. I don't know if it's stress or something else, but I can't eat and my tummy is not happy! Alex is also not feeling well so I am not able to do much when he us up.  I am praying that this second issue gets worked out today, so I can get back to handling the foster care situation!  Wish us luck. :(
