I ended up spending five fun filled hours with my Grandma, and Grandpa. Plus one of my closest cousins went with me. We had lunch together, and they taught us a new game. It's called 3 to 13, and it is super fun.
In the middle of the visit my grandma offered us a piece of Or.bits gum, but followed the offer with "careful there is something in it that is addicting. I tried a piece and now I have to buy it by the case". lol My cousin and I cracked up, but then my cousin confirmed what my grandma was saying! lol Courtney (my cousin) said everyone at her work is on it too, and that they take weekly trips to Cost.co, just for or.bits gum! lol My family is crazy! I also chew it, and had it in my purse when grandma offered it to me, but I would not say I am addicted to it!
A few times while we were there, grandpa would comment on how "small" and "tiny" I am. What woman doesn't love to hear that? I am sure he was talking about how (short) I am, but I will take it. I am short, and when my Grandpa hugged me, I felt like a little girl again. I love my grandpa very much. He is quite, and often pretends to not be listening to the conversation, then he will say something so funny. It always cracks my cousin and I up. You think he is off in lala land, but really I think he is working on what hilarious thing he is going to say next! He is also loves games, just like me. When we were playing 3 to 13 last weekend he was getting "upset" with my cousin because she was taking so long to take her turn. Not really "upset", but he would tap his fingers on the table as if to say "what is taking so long?". Courtney and I laughed and laughed about this, which would make her turn take even longer! At one point grandpa saw that I was making a bad move, so he fixed it for me, and I ended up with a better score. Later Courtney made a similar mistake, but grandpa said "tough" to her! lol We could not stop laughing at that, and we teased each other saying, Courtney was going to cry all the way home, and that I can never do anything wrong! We also teased grandpa because he came in last, even though he was way ahead in the beginning. Just like me, grandpa never likes to lose! So grandpa and I pouted for a few minutes since we came in 3rd and 4th. :) We had a wonderful visit and I can't wait to go up again. What better way to spend a Sunday, than laughing for five hours at my grandparents house?
I thought about grandpa all day on Thursday when he went in for his test. I was even sure to tell lots of friends, so we could send out lots of prayers for him. But all the hope in the world could not change the outcome. I got on f.aceb.ook last night to find that it is in fact lung cancer. All of my aunts, cousins, and my sister had written about it on there. I wish someone would have called me, but I guess that's what happens these days! Why call, when you can just f.aceb.ook! I am very sad about this, but it has opened my eyes, and I will be spending a lot more time with my grandparents. It's sad to think that I could let life get this busy. That I would be so tired on Sundays that I would just stay on the couch and watch TV! Not anymore. I will be spending time with friends and family when I have time, and not putting TV ahead of them, just because I'm tired.
I'm glad you were able to spend an afternoon with your Gpa. I lost my Gpa to prostate cancer last year. It was very hard on all of us but I know where he is right now and he is no longer suffering. Prayers are with you and your family.
